Counter Space by HA-HA by JoFF Rae

This augmented robot stencil is spreading the love . This was one of the first robots I used to spray around Melbourne back in 2002 - 04. Back then, the robots were a metaphor for the repetitive task of working as I used to do hard rubbish & tree mulching for the local council. The week day cycle seems to be endless & the robots were the perfect outlet , like a release of work related stress with creativity.

3D CAPTURE OF THE WHARENUI HARIKOA

*powered by iSPARX™

The brief is to capture a 3D model of the Wharenui Harikoa at a location in South Auckland - .The Ormiston Town Centre.

We have an opportunity to capture the Whare. Early March the Whare returns to the new facility to be assembled.

We propose a draft schedule for both the 3D capture & build of the Wharenui Harikoa with other immersive media assets. The capture in this most opportunistic time

Capturing the Wharenui Harikoa

PROLOGUE

Wharenui Harikoa is a prism of tūpuna-inspired light that shines across the sky like a rainbow. Transforming intergenerational trauma into deeply felt joy one crochet loop at a time.

We are capturing the Whare as a 3D object primarily for education purposes.

Creatively we have considered context & other relevant resources.

We are excited & honoured to have the opportunity to capture this significant Taonga.

PHASE 1

PROCESS FOR THE CAPTURE OF THE WHARENUI HARIKOA

Undergo capture of the Wharenui Harikoa & generation of a series of digital assets suitable for digital representation & physical replication.

Capture to take place over a week during relocation of the Whare to a new location. Access to the Wharenui Harikoa for the duration, with oversight from necessary personnel where required.

- three technicians for capture process & crew for installation & removal of equipment;

- planning seven day schedule: setup & capture days; six capture days; process day (off site); & a final capture day (if required);

- capture the Whare in 360° to support the quality of the digital model & provides a context to present the 3D model.

Process will involve setting up a selection of panels & lighting on site to standardise & control lighting & create a suitable space for capture of the subject. Through a series of photogrammetry sessions / captures over the six capture days (min 400 photos each) we will review settings & process & generate a series of models, with a day following to review & process. Reserving the last planned day of capture for any alternative settings that may be required or capture any additional elements that were low priority.

For the best possible outcome we would expect to return again when the Whare is assembled. We would use this opportunity to capture each component of the Whare again complete & independently for best detail & quality results.

PHASE 2

DELIVERABLES

A series of digital assets suitable for digital representation & physical replication.

Digital files for a 3D model suitable for use in a range of applications, potentially including but not limited to; Hi res render & hero images, turntables animations, web based applications for learning & education.

- A high res .fbx or similar format model suitable for renders / hero shots (1 million+ polygons per );

- A low res .fbx or similar format model suitable for realtime applications (approx 200,000 polygons);

- Normal, Roughness, Albedo, & Metallic texture maps at hi & low res (8k & 2k png’s) for renders & realtime use respectively;

- 360° environment capture (dependent on being onsite after assembly)

- Presentation of the subject via a private web link.

Projection & mapping / 3D installations for performance, demonstration or installation.

- A high res .fbx or similar format model suitable for replication (1 million+ polygons) in video or projection installations;

- Virtual production assets.

CHRIS CUFFARO

Whether it’s glitz and glamour or raw reality, by consistently capturing the “real” person behind the “famous” face, Chris Cuffaro brings a new level of emotional depth to the two-dimensional art form of photography. In fact, over the past 35 years, Chris's signature work with a galaxy of A-List actors, models, athletes and musicians has helped them define their public image while establishing his reputation as one of the most respected photographers in the entertainment industry.

Drawn to the excitement of music as a teenager growing up in Northern California, Chris began his career by shooting local rock shows for fun. He quickly graduated to headlining acts and, since moving to Los Angeles in the early 1980’s, has worked with a succession of top musical artists from pop sensation George Michael and the legendary Iggy Pop to the ground breaking bands Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana. Chris’ live and studio images of these musicians and others, including No Doubt, Limp Bizkit, Henry Rollins, Elvis Costello, Fiona Apple, Scott Weiland and Soundgarden, have regularly appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, RayGun, Vibe, Musician as well as on the covers of more than 300 record albums and CDs.

Yet along with his significant commercial and editorial contributions as a music photographer, Chris’ portfolio also includes an equally impressive group of non-musicians. Among these are iconic images of leading sports figures, such s Kobe Bryant, Wayne Gretzky and Tony Hawk, along with stunning fashion photography of today’s hottest super-models and designers.

In addition, Chris’ dramatic portraits of veteran actors Sidney Poitier, Johnny Depp, Dustin Hoffman and Vince Vaughn as well as new starlets like Brooke Burke, Judy Greer and Mira Sorvino have been prominently featured in the pages of Entertainment Weekly, US, Stuff, Maxim, Premiere, British Elle and W while his gallery photos for the USA Network, HBO, Nickelodeon and FOX’s landmark television series “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” have made him a first-call among leading media, ad and talent agencies around the world.

Most recently, Chris has set his sights beyond photography; making a seamless transition from film to digital imaging by both producing and directing a number of music videos and independent films. His personal involvement in Ashton View, Inc. production, publishing and web activities offers further evidence that his natural talent, versatility and tireless pursuit of artistic expression continue to grow no matter the medium.

“Regardless of what I’ve been able to accomplish in the past, there are always new mountains to climb and new borders to cross,” Chris explains. “I’m excited by where I'm going and what lies ahead… by the journey as well as the destination."

Virtual histories are a form of fictional writing that apply a ‘what if’ scenario to history. For example, ‘what if Christopher Columbus did not discover the Americas’, or ‘what if Able Tasman did not discover New Zealand’? Of course neither Columbus nor Tasman were responsible for discovering either of those lands, and the artists in this exhibition explore this idea of ‘virtual histories’ in relation to these types of so called ‘true histories’.

The artworks in this exhibition are made by seven Māori artists from Aotearoa New Zealand who use digital media to create real and virtual spaces for Indigenous knowledge. The exhibition includes a range of media from virtual reality and augmented reality artworks, through to video games, projection installation and 3D printing. Each artwork critiques dominate histories and perceptions of Indigenous peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand, and postulates on how different the world might be for Indigenous peoples in the future.

Exhibition curator Reuben Friend says, “the exhibition includes some of the leading figures currently working in Māori digital art and is a major chance to review how Māori digital media has advanced over the past ten years”.
